Meet Cornwall’s Tech Agile Community

Come and hear about Cornwall’s tech agile community, meet the team and volunteers working with Software Cornwall. Find out more about education, business, events and more.

Hear the latest on our work in education from Tony Edwards, and update on the growth of the community by Belinda, and what its like to be an apprentice in Cornwall’s tech sector with Jordan Barkway, plus we will have a quick Q&A session too with the team.

JORDAN BARKWAY – BIOGRAPHY
Jordan is a Software Development apprentice with Bluefruit Software. After discovering her ideal career pathway through Software Cornwalls Missions to Mars experiences she now mentors new students starting out on ther tech career pathways too. Jordan is active in Cornwall’s local tech community encouraging others to consider careers in tech, especially supporting helping more women and young people into tech careers locally.

TONY EDWARDS – BIOGRAPHY
Tony Edwards is one half of the Software Cornwall Education Outreach team, where he helps inspire the next generation of budding developers to follow their digital dreams and enter the broader software industry.

Software Cornwall is a not for profit member network which connects over 80 digital businesses across the county. In 2017, the organisation ramped up their education offering after receiving funding from the Careers Enterprise Company, European Union and Big Lottery.

Being fully funded at the point of delivery has allowed Software Cornwall to visit nearly every secondary school in the county, support code clubs, provide work experience opportunities to college students, mentor startups and university students and help NEET young adults into fulfilling careers.

BELINDA WALDOCK – BIOGRAPHY
Belinda Waldock is a Business Coach, Consultant and author of Being Agile in Business http://amzn.to/1Jfv8AK

Belinda works with businesses, leaders and teams to grow and develop through agile working. Her book Being Agile in Business has been internationally published , shortlisted as the CMI management book of the year and translated into Chinese. Belinda focuses on taking agile beyond tech, across sectors and throughout organisations, and the transition from doing agile to ‘being agile’.

Belinda works with private and public sector teams and businesses supporting growth and improvement specialising in whole business agility from a teams and business perspective. Her ‘Being Agile’ approach has been adopted by a broad range of high growth businesses across many business sectors from tech to fashion, and manufacturing to marketing.

Belinda is part of the organising committee for the award winning conference www.agileonthebeach.com. She is a regular speaker at events sharing her experiences of adopting agile within and beyond the tech sector. Belinda is founder and director of www.SoftwareCornwall.org , in the top 3 of the UK’s fastest growing digitaltech clusters (TechNation2016), which represents a community of businesses, education and support organisations dedicated to connecting, promoting and supporting the growing tech community in Cornwall.

SOFTWARE CORNWALL

Software Cornwall is a not for profit community network and the hub of Cornwall’s fast growing tech cluster.

The Software Cornwall team along with members and volunteers, work collaboratively to connect, promote, support and grow the tech community. They do this through a range of activities, from running learn to code Missions to Mars with Cornwall’s future software engineers to helping local tech businesses grow their businesses. Agile on the Beach is a leading annual conference in Falmouth, Cornwall UK. Since 2011 Agile on the Beach has been a two day agile conference, set on the Cornish coast with a beach party in between. The conference explores agile software, products, teams, business and practices. With over 400 attending, the conference hosts 50 seminars and workshops to provide the ultimate agile learning experience, along with ample opportunities for networking at its 3 evening events.
